Magic Mirror

In Fall of 2023, Evan and I were tasked with creating a magic mirror that could be installed within the Immersive Media space. What we came up with and developed was a live representation of the person walking in front of the sensor within a digital space.

This project utilized the RealSense and Touch Designer to gather depth data and then use that data to create a simulation within the screen. The actual installation was fairly simple. 3 TVs in a corner and a mounted RealSense behind all of the TVs to get a good angle. We were originally going to use a projector since that seemed more fun but because we couldn’t find a good work around for the person’s shadows disrupting the projection, we pivoted to TVs.
